About the place?

The photos and audio recordings of this feature were found at Yazd Art House at around 8.22 pm during Iranian Ramadan. Yazd is a city in central Iran. It is located about 250 kilometres southeast of Isfahan. Due to Yazd's remote location close to the desert, the city was not part of the ravages of wars during the last centuries.

The project?

The project Place and Culture is part of an ongoing practice where Philip documents places with photo and sound equipment.

As an artistic research method originating from ethnographic tradition, the practice shows how places are structured and used by people. Simply, it gives a sensory experience of a site at a particular time and vibe.
