Yesterday I asked one of my three female Tehran friends Paria how many Hidschābs she owns only for being left with a deluded smile. Well, I think she wasn’t sure at all but we settled for about a 100 different headscarves. Since then I’ve been seeing all kind of different colours and patterns and while a black Hidschāb will probably never get out of fashion it is certainly not a Persian’s first choice.
