St. Peter and its Cemetery were established in the 7th century and are one of Salzburg's most picturesque locations. Destroyed several times, the architectural style of the buildings are a mixture of Romanesque, Renaissance and Rococo origins. The cemetery itself and its concluding catacombs were used in the movie The Sound of Music.

Small, hidden, tucked away. It is early in the morning, around 7 am. The weather is cold, rainy, Salzburg rainy – which means the air itself feels like water. I count about 120 graves on St. Peter's Cemetery. The beautiful disaster of death – the beautiful Sound of Music. In this location, it is disguised in endless romanticism and exclusivity.
